Our Impact
The Witness Foundation
The Witness Foundation equips Black Christian leaders through funding, fellowship, and formation. Launched in 2020 as the philanthropic arm of The Witness Inc., we exist to support those called to lead, without compromising faith or identity.
Equipping Black Christian Leaders to Lead With Freedom and Impact
Founded in 2020 as the philanthropic arm of The Witness Inc., The Witness Foundation exists to bridge the gap between calling and capacity. We support Black Christians who faithfully lead in ministry, theology, and justice, but often face barriers to funding, support, and spiritual well-being.
Through our signature Fellowship program, we provide multi-year grants, spiritual formation, and leadership development to equip emerging leaders for long-term impact. Our Fellows are writers, pastors, scholars, and organizers whose visions reflect God’s justice and joy for Black communities.
Why We Exist
Due to historic inequality and systemic underfunding, many Black Christian leaders lack access to the wealth and networks that are often available to their white counterparts. We believe this is not a reflection of a lack of calling, but a lack of resourcing. The Witness Foundation is here to change that.
Active Witness Challenge
The Active Witness Challenge is a virtual event honoring the 1965 March on Selma. Join us this March by walking, running, biking, swimming, or giving—an active expression of faith and community. Help us reach our goal of 1,000 participants as we continue this legacy together.
